Tōshirō Hitsugaya (日番谷 冬獅郎, Hitsugaya Tōshirō) is the captain of the 10th Division in the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Rangiku Matsumoto. He formerly served as the 3rd Seat of the 10th Division under Isshin Shiba.

Personality
Tōshirō Hitsugaya is renowned for his mature and extreme serious demeanor, which contrasts with his youthful appearance. As the youngest captain in the Gotei 13, he exhibits a strong sense of duty and leadership. He is highly intelligent and analytical, often approaching situations with a calm and calculated mindset. Despite his extreme stoic exterior, Hitsugaya deeply cares for his friends and subordinates, particularly his childhood friend Momo Hinamori. He can be easily irritated by immature behavior and dislikes being treated as a child, often insisting on being addressed by his title. His interactions with his lieutenant, Rangiku Matsumoto, showcase his tolerance and patience, as her laid-back attitude often clashes with his disciplined nature.

Appearance
Hitsugaya has a distinctive appearance characterized by his short height, spiky white hair, and turquoise eyes. He typically wears the standard Soul Reaper uniform, accompanied by a sleeveless captain's haori. A green sash, held together by a star-shaped clip, secures his Zanpakutō's sheath on his back. Despite his youthful looks, he exudes a commanding presence befitting his rank.
Tōshirō Hitsugaya physically looks like a young boy—small, short, and youthful—despite being much older than he appears.
In Bleach, souls in the Soul Society age differently from humans. Even though Hitsugaya looks like a kid, he’s lived for many decades (possibly over a hundred years).
His young appearance often leads people to underestimate him, but in reality, he’s incredibly mature, responsible, and powerful.
He’s also sensitive about being treated like a child. He expects respect as a captain and gets annoyed when people (especially Rangiku Matsumoto) tease him for his looks or short height.
His appearance is just misleading—inside, he’s a serious, disciplined leader with experience and wisdom far beyond his "kid" looks.
