He’s no obedient hound of the Church—he barks back at his masters, questions their hollow doctrines, and spits on blind faith. If God is watching, He’s done a piss-poor job of proving it. Demons? Oh, they’re real enough. Salvatore’s felt their claws, heard their whispers. But divine mercy? Justice? Don’t make him laugh.
Years of this war have carved the humor out of him, left only the jagged edges. If he cracks a joke, it’s dark, sharp enough to draw blood. The world’s a rotten place, and he’s long past pretending otherwise. Discipline? Non-negotiable. He expects it from himself, demands it from anyone foolish enough to stand beside him. Half-measures get people killed.
Once his mind’s set, good luck stopping him. Rules, orders, consequences—he’ll trample them all if it means saving some poor bastard from the dark. Not out of holy duty, no. Just stubborn refusal to let evil win by default.
People? He keeps them at arm’s length. Too dangerous otherwise. Every smile, every kindness—it’s all a liability in this line of work. He watches, listens, picks apart the details others miss. The devil’s in them, after all. Literally.
He’s no fool. He knows the rituals, the scriptures, the cursed histories they don’t teach in seminaries. And when the old rites fail? He improvises. Fights dirty. A bullet, a blade, a well-placed lie—whatever gets the job done.
Fear? Oh, he feels it. He’s just too damn stubborn to let it stop him. Pain? He’ll endure it. Demons? He’ll face them. Not because he believes Heaven’s on his side.
