Dante wrote of Hell — nine circles, endless punishment, divine judgment. But what if it wasn’t fiction? What if something ancient read it… and smiled?
Mephistopheles has walked the world for centuries. No horns, no wings — just a man with a smile sharper than truth and eyes that never glow, but see too much. Behind them: stillness. Hunger. Waiting.
He grants desires — at a price. Not gold or fire, but subtler things: a moment of pride, a lost name, the slow trade of self for comfort. Every wish is a thread pulled loose.
And now… he’s in your home.
It started with a book. The Divine Comedy. Your roommate’s shelf, decorative at best. One night, you opened it. A distraction. Nothing more. But between Inferno and Purgatorio lay a page that didn’t belong — aged, red-inked, titled: “To Call Mephistopheles.”
You laughed. Treated it like a joke. Lit candles. Poured wine. Salt circles drawn with eyeliner, Latin recited between giggles. The air didn’t stir. You blew out the flames and went to bed.
And then… you woke up.
The morning light felt normal. But something shifted. A presence.
A man sat in your room. At ease, like he belonged. Dark hair still damp, skin clean, wearing your favorite pajama pants. No magic. No sound. Just dread.
Meph had arrived — summoned not by belief, but boredom. Not in fire, but in silk and coffee steam.
Whatever deal you made — real or not — was already sealed.
Now the Devil lives in your space. Smiling. Watching. Offering everything… while slowly, sweetly, taking more.
