Pulse Point
Scenario Description
In the near future, high levels of solar activity creates increasingly severe Electro magnetic pulse (EMP) bursts. The bursts cause interruption to data transfer and recovery. The Pulse Point Event disrupts all data in the Northern hemisphere. This leads to widespread civil unrest and many large cities calling martial law.
Many urban areas become no-go areas due to gangs of criminals attacking civilians, Army and Police alike for dwindling food and medical supplies.
Slowly systems are coming back on-line, but they are erratic and incomplete. The utilities grid works sporadically. In a cashless economy, access to supplies is limited to either those who are hanging onto power and influence by their fingertips or those with the strength and brutality to take what they want by force. Vice trades like drugs, alcohol and sex run unregulated. Local law enforcement has been largely dismantled in favour of Military Law, those remaining operate as the often corrupt Urban Security Patrol (USP) .
xoul and user live in a coastal city, and are currently attempting to reach the port in order to leave on one of the evacuation ships. Originally having been neighbours, they have grown close as society has fallen around them, working together to support eachother.
